New to Elysium?

There’s more than one way to start.

Whether you are completely new to Pilates, returning after a break, experienced but new to Elysium, pregnant, postnatal or looking for more individual support, we’ll help you find the right place to begin.

Find your starting point

Which sounds most like you?

You do not need to know exactly which class or style of Pilates you need before you arrive. Start with the option below that feels closest to where you are now.

New to Matwork

I want to learn Pilates from the foundations.

Our Beginners Matwork term is a structured introduction to the fundamentals of Pilates, taught progressively so you can build confidence and understanding over time.

New to Reformer

I’m completely new to Reformer Pilates.

Our Reformer Beginners classes are designed to introduce the equipment, key Pilates principles and class format at a comfortable pace.

All levels

I’m happy to join an all-levels class.

Sculpt is designed for all levels. Exercises can be adjusted and progressed, so you can work at the level that suits your experience on the day.

Returning to Pilates

I’ve done Pilates before, but it’s been a while.

You do not necessarily need to start from scratch. Reformer Beginners or our Beginners Matwork term can be a comfortable way back in, while Sculpt is also suitable for all levels.

Best place to start: depends on your confidence and experience

New to Elysium

I already know Pilates, but I’m new to your studio.

If you are comfortable with Pilates and want to experience how Elysium teaches before committing to a pack or membership, the Awareness Pack is a simple place to begin.

Individual support

I have an injury, rehabilitation needs or want a personalised program.

Studio Pilates gives you an individual program and more instructor attention. Every new Studio Pilates client begins with an Intro and personalised program before joining Semi-Private sessions.

Pregnancy & Postnatal

I’m pregnant or returning to movement after birth.

We have dedicated pregnancy and postnatal pathways rather than asking you to simply modify a general class. Options include Fit 2 Deliver, Baby + You and Baby + You Reformer.

Best place to start: our specialist Pregnancy & Postnatal program

Returning after a break?

You probably don’t need to start from zero.

If you have done Pilates before but have been away from it for a while, the right starting point depends more on how confident you feel than how long you have been away.

Want a gentler re-entry?

Reformer Beginners or our Beginners Matwork term can help you reconnect with technique, control and confidence.

Happy in an all-levels class?

Sculpt is suitable for all levels, so you can return without needing to complete a beginners course first.

Need more individual attention?

If you are returning after injury, surgery or a major change in health, Studio Pilates may be the better first step.

Your first visit

What should you expect?

You do not need to be fit, flexible or know how the equipment works before you start.

Wear what feels comfortable

Choose clothing you can move easily in. Grip socks are useful for Reformer and equipment-based classes.

Arrive a little early

Give yourself a few minutes to get settled, meet your instructor and let us know if there is anything we should be aware of.

Tell us what’s going on

If you have an injury, pain, pregnancy or anything affecting how you move, let your instructor know before class.

You can ask questions

You are not expected to know everything. We would much rather you ask than spend the class wondering if you are doing something correctly.

Still not sure?

Tell us a little about yourself.

If none of those options feel obvious, get in touch and we can help you work out the best place to start.
